Just practicing before we leave

Well, here we are, we've taken another step towards our proficiency on the information super-highway. Thanks to my friend Ruth, we are becoming bloggers so that she can travel vicariously through our travels to Northern Europe and Paris. I have to say that we have enjoyed some blogs by traveling friends as well, so when she offered the challenge, Ron jumped right in and set it up. Now, here I am, navigating my own way to write this first installment, mainly to make sure that I can do it and understand it before I leave.

The countdown is 6 days. We leave next Tuesday evening for London, where we will meet up with my Mom and Dad and spend a couple of days picking up some of the sights we missed on our trip there in 2004. I am hoping to be able to see the Parliament this time and take a ride on the London Eye. On the 15th, we will board a train for Harwich, which is where we will be boarding our Royal Caribbean ship, Jewel of the Seas, for a 12 day trip to Scandinavia and St. Petersburg, Russia. I have wanted to visit St. Petersburg ever since I was in high school and I took Mr. Kobel's Russian history class, so this is a dream come true for me; one thing that I could mark off of my "bucket list" if I actually had one!

When we disembark, my Mom and Dad will spend more time in London. Ron and I will take the Chunnel to Paris, where we will visit the museums, the D-Day beaches, the Loire Valley, Versailles and anything else that is noteworthy that we can fit into our schedule. On Sept. 5, we will fly to Dublin and spend two nights so that Ron can take a tour of the Guinness Factory and take in some of the local music. We will be flying home on our 34th anniversary, Sept. 7th. Sooo, I will sign off now and see if it works, and if it doesn't, no one will know but me, and I can try it again!!

Pretty snazzy, Mom (well...Dad for setting it up so pretty). Well done.
Is it just me, or did your trip just get longer? I didn't know about the Dublin detour. Plus, I hope you're trying to stop in Amboise in the Loire Valley. It's loverly.
